Study of Polysomnography in Patients of Metabolic Syndrome

Objectives: Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a condition wherein collapse of the upper airway during results in decreased or complete cessation airflow. The association OSA with increased cardiovascular morbidity, mortality, and various risk factors known for long time. Metabolic syndrome cluster metabolic abnormalities, insulin resistance as central pathophysiological feature ‘Syndrome X’ Z’. aims this study were follows: (1) To incidence patients syndrome, (2) to correlate severity syndrome. Material Methods: This hospital-based observational conducted Department Respiratory Medicine IGGMC, Nagpur. Results: In present ‘polysomnography syndrome’; 50 cases evaluated. 20 (55.55%) subjects age group 40–50 years. 22 (44%) had moderate excessive daytime sleepiness, followed by higher normal sleepiness 14 (28%) based on Epworth scale. Of Syndrome, Apnoea Hypopnea Index (AHI) <5 36 (72%) AHI 5 more, which 42% mild apnoea, 22% 8% severe apnoea. Conclusion: Prevalence Syndrome Z was found be high .
